Architectural Photography - Toyota One of my specialties in photography is architecture. My major in college was art, but I also studied drafting and architecture, and spent many years as a commercial builder. I was a project manager for commercial retail construction, which involved both design and build. Architecture is a passion, and capturing it in photography is also a passion. Here's one of my photos shot for Toyota for Renaissance Architects. I specifically wanted to shoot in full sun to capture the skies and the silver tones of the design.

When I'm not out on location shooting resorts, styling food for restaurant advertising, or flying to Key West to do a fashion shoot, I love photographing architectural projects. This is a recent commercial shoot for a developer wanting to showcase some of their properties. High end developers love tenants with a national reputation, its my job to capture images that help my clients. Here's a dusk shot that has a little action to show viewers more than just a static shot of a retailer. When we photograph an architectural property a shot like this takes days of planning, scouting the weather to capture just the right skyline, and lighting the building with powerful lights. We begin setup early in the day, testing lights and adjusting the color temperature. Once we dial in the overall look, we back and wait for the sun to set and then we begin our photo segments.

One of our recent photo shoots was for the Crescent Club for Travelzoo in New York City. Here's one of the architectural shots we took for the magazine. We particularly liked this shot of the entrance to the tower, capturing the beauty of the sky, the brilliant colors and hues caught our eye for this special feature shot.
Annual Reports - Memphis Tennessee - Michael Allen Architectures
Perfect photography for annual reports. Our team travels to destinations across the country to shoot photographs for business. Here's one of our recent architectural shoots for the Raymond James building in Memphis Tennessee. The shoot was for Pattison Sign Company who designs and installs signs across the US. For this photo we shot at last light of the day, and this amazing cloud rolled up from behind us and created a giant soft box effect from the very last glimpse of the sun as it crawled behind the horizon, casting this beautiful pink light on the front of the building, which would otherwise be a dark shadow from our camera angle. It can take hours to get a shot like this, sometimes days. And for this shoot, it did take hours and waiting several days for just the right moment in time. With mother nature as our lighting director, we were dealing with this massive black storm front front rolling in from the south east, with a peak of clear sky at the west, which reflected in the windows on the north, such a pretty mix of light for this shot!

Architecture Memphis - Professional photography- Here's a few from one of our architectural shoots for one of our national clients. The Raymond James Building is one of the most recent towers to built downtown, not too many have been built since the 1990's. The granite design is one of the features of this beautiful modern skyscraper. For this image we kept some of the traditional rules of architectural photography with our own unique style, with the main emphasis being the stature of the building. We've been fans of architecture for many years, and one of our past careers was architectural design, drafting, and construction, so we have a passion for beautiful architecture, photography, lighting and landscapes. For this shot we picked a specific spot right between the trees to give the image a unique perspective in the downtown terrain.

Here's a few from one of our architectural shoots for one of our national clients. The Raymond James Building is one of the most recent towers to built downtown, not too many have been built since the 1990's. The granite design is one of the features of this beautiful modern skyscraper. For this image we broke some of the traditional rules of architectural photography with our own unique style, with the main emphasis being the sign. We also used a special process to wash and wax all of the windows on this massive skyscraper - you will have to ask us how we did it. This building was extremely dirty, windows were streaked in grime, but we took care of that without climbing on any scaffolding!
