Oxford Mississippi Double Decker Festival -Promotional Reel
Here's the new promotional reel for the Double Decker Festival in Oxford Mississippi. The Oxford Convention & Visitors Bureau created the festival to celebrate living in the South, with small town events in their downtown town square, the festival has grown in attendance to over 60,000 people in recent years, bringing more money to the local economy, helping businesses attract new customers, and offering the residents of Oxford a world class event in their own backyard. Oxford is home to authors like John Faulkner & John Grisham, and a host of celebrities with roots in Mississippi. The goal for this reel was to show the festival highlights, family friendly activities, music and food in a fun way with an indie film style.

John Albert Thomas is a solo piano composer who is working with NILMDTS on a new album featuring 10 songs inspired by 10 families who have suffered the loss of a child. This interview talks about the struggles, pain, despair and hope that families need to go through this dark journey. Johns music helps bring healing to families that don't know what to do or how to cope with such a devastating loss. NILMDTS is a national organization that connects grieving parents with photographers who can document their loss with sensitivity. The organization is well known & respected in the photo industry. This film was a very successful tool which helped John raise capital for his project, and will be used to reach out to counselors across the country to help families. Fuel-Short Inspirational Film-Memphis Photographers - Memphis Indie Film
I recently shot this film on the Canon 5d Mark II for my friend Brian Albrecht at Hope Church in Memphis. Brian produced, directed and edited the project, Clay & Dan at Hope teamed up with us on the production, camera, lighting, talent direction and Dan offered his amazing talents for the final editing. I used a Canon 70-200mm IS 2.8 lens, and a Canon 24-105mm IS 4.0 lens. We shot on a dark soundstage using one key light and a small backfill light for just a little separation. After effects were used in Final Cut Pro to give a bit more of a film look. Hope you enjoy it and get some inspiration too! Photo by Michael Allen.
Production Budget $1500
This inspirational film was used in a motivation lecture series to support the speaker's delivery of his message. Utilizing a full production crew at DeanFV.com along with our team as camera support, lighting and set design, the indie crew used the RED ONE camera to capture some simple but beautiful video. Produced and Directed by my friend Brian Albrecht at Hope Church. Special thanks to my next door neighbor Shannon Dyson for the spending the day with us on this shoot. It's nice to know that over 7000 people at Hope Church got inspiration from this film.
